The State Teachers' Institute, currently the Mongolian National University of Education, was established in 1951 and initially operated with four departments.
The Departments of History and Social Sciences, and Linguistics laid the groundwork for the School of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The departments that comprise the School of Social Sciences and Humanities were a part of several schools until they came together to form a unified institution in 2014.
